HINT: Since the source documents for this list are uniformly Prince Edward County Funeral Cards, the SURNAME and GIVEN NAMES columns are the primary fields on which to search. Although a surname search could be done using the global search field at the top right of the table on the surname “Young” resulting in 124 matches, some of which are maiden names from the GIVEN NAMES column, a search in the SURNAME field at the bottom of the SURNAME column produces 112 matches, all of which are surnames. A wildcard could be used to identify variant spellings for some surnames, like “Young%” for “Younge” or “Yo%g%” for “Yonge”, but in this case no variants exist in this list for this surname. The most straightforward search is to use SURNAME and GIVEN NAME or SURNAME and “INITIAL + %” in the appropriate columns, such as “Young and Fr%” which will reduce the number of matches to “Frank Young” and one other entry. Additional resources can be accessed in the Quinte Branch Research Library or through TONI, The Ontario Name Index, maintained by the Ontario Genealogical Society.
