Over 665,000 Canadians served in the First World War including soldiers, pilots, sailors and nurses. Discover what was involved in serving with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, the Royal Naval Air Service, the Royal Canadian Navy or the Nursing Sisters in the Canadian Army Medical
Corps. A brief overview of the battles in which the Canadian forces participated will be discussed.

About our Speaker: Kathryn Lake Hogan is a professional genealogist who educates people on how to find
their ancestors in Canada. She is the founder and owner of the Canadian-based genealogy business, Looking4Ancestors. A native of Ontario, Canada, Kathryn has deep roots in Canada through four ancestral Loyalist lines and ancestry in New England, England, and Wales.

Kathryn has presented in-person and virtually at genealogy society meetings, regional workshops, national conferences and research institutes throughout Canada and the United States. She is well known for her monthly webinar series, Genealogy with a Canadian Twist.

Giving back to the genealogy community is important to Kathryn; she has served as a director at large on the executive boards of Ontario Ancestors – The Ontario Genealogical Society, the Association of Professional Genealogists and as the interim Dominion Genealogist of the United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada. Currently, Kathryn is continuing her volunteer work with Ontario Ancestors on the conference programming, and the diversity, inclusion, equity and accessibility committees.
