Surname Interest List (SIL)

Helping Hands Outreach Program at Quinte Branch

Have you wondered if others are researching your family connections? Using the Surname Interest List process it may facilitate research collaboration, brick wall demolition, and cousin finding! The SIL is comprised of family surnames of interest to our members, past members and visitors/contacts with a focus on the Quinte area of Hastings, Prince Edward and neighbouring Counties. The list is updated annually on our website with folks contacted prior to the update to determine if they wish to continue participation. Using the searchable index and contact request process, our SIL Coordinator will then reach out to the folks researching the similar family names and they will determine if they want to make contact with the requestor.

To use this searchable table, type the SURNAME you are searching for into the “SEARCH box” below. The IDs for the PROVIDERS should appear.

If you want to contact a researcher from the list, complete this form. In the text of your notes section include a brief note about the primary ancestors in each surname. This will help the provider to better determine if you are researching the same “surname family”.
